Sentinet Network Solutions
Our core knowledge base is different from most computer support companies whose staff will be certified in either Windows or Linux or perhaps both and have experience trouble-shooting software and printer problems.
Iboza's TSG staff continue to design and build subsystems globally for large tech firms like SITA and Ericsson. The WAN solutions they develop include design of synchronous hardware communications adapters and the device driver code, utilities and applications to support them. This experience has given them a deeper understanding of how computers work and talk to each other. It also requires an in-depth understanding of the packet IP network which is the basis for the entire Internet and Intranets everywhere. Our SyncServer/SyncSwitch ® systems are literally deployed around the world!
Why should this matter to a company whose only interest is in how to add a new work station or struggling with network gremlins and glitches? Perhaps you are just trying to insure your nightly back-ups will work following a server catastrophe?
We have the ability to go to back to basics with the added experience that comes from being not only IT specialist but systems designers and programmers. We take the guess work out of solving network issues.
How can we help? Here are a couple of case studies:
A local hosting provider, struggling with a failing web server was in jeopardy of losing their customer's data on a bad Raid Array. Unfortunately the back-up data had also become corrupt and there was no longer a way to bring the machine down, fix the problem and get it running again. This meant recovering the data and putting the original machine on-line was no longer an option without days of down-time, potential data loss and interruption in the web service of over 100 customers and the expense of replacing or repairing the server.
After an emergency meeting with Iboza it was determined that we could virtualize the operating web server on the fly, copy of the readable data to a network storage device and bring the web server back on-line at our facility in Toronto. We could then, one-by-one, recover lost data and transfer the customers to the virtual server at Iboza. The outcome was that the ISP is now operating as a dedicated colocation customer on Iboza's infrastructure with an exact copy of their web server. They no longer have to come to terms with failing hardware, faulty back-ups or periods of down-time when their only upstream provider goes down.
A business is concerned that they may have a back-up solution for their network server that will let them down if it's ever needed. They are worried about trying a "fire drill" to see if it will actually work and do not want to spend money on an additional web server to test with. To make matters worse the server is getting old and at 5 years is due to fail in the near future.
Our IT staff worked out a solution where the server was virtualized and deployed on a new more capable machine using VM Ware. The backup software that was in use to back-up data was adequate for the job, as was the operating system. Although it was older software it was still performing it's job and could be kept up-to-date on the new virtual machine.
A maintenance schedule was set-up where the virtual machine was backed up to a storage device and tested on a work station converted to VM Ware. The company no longer needed to have a stand-by server (in the event their old server failed) because they now only need to copy the virtual's back-up to the work station and bring it online thus proving the integrity of not only their data back-up but the web server virtual machine itself. It's so easy the staff can do this without the need for a network support person!
