telephone-chile-logoTelco Switch Control / Billing data connectivity
Compania de Telecommunicaciones de Chile (CTC) operates over 100 wireline telephone switches across the country, as well as providing data and Internet connectivity services to its business and consumer customers.

For billing data, the company uses an IP-based Wide Area Network and two Sun servers running Solaris 9 to collect call detail records from each switch that it manages. The Software Group Limited's BX.25/ AMATPS library and lower level protocol software enables remote data collection from each switch in the network.

For its OSS (Operational Support System), CTC relies on a network of over 100 Intel-based Unix servers, running SCO OpenServer 5. Each of these machines has an X.25 connection, provided by The Software Group's Netcom II X.25 protocol implementation and SGP hardware.

Union Gas CanadaMotorola radio digital paging system
Union Gas Limited is a major Canadian natural gas utility which provides energy delivery and related services to more than one million residential, commercial and industrial countries in over 400 communities in northern, southwestern and eastern Ontario.

Union Gas operates a wide-area Motorola digital paging system for dispatching repair crews. The paging system uses synchronous HDLC data links between the central (hub) location and the pager transmitters. Kelcom, a southern Ontario-based radio connectivity company, employed The Software Group's SyncSwitch to provide IP-based WAN infrastructure for the Union Gas paging network. By converting the hub-and-spoke HDLC leased line network to an IP-based WAN using SyncSwitch, Union Gas captures significant operational savings over the predecessor leased line network.

Sita AeroCivil air transport
SITA SA operates worldwide communications networks to support civil aviation. The network uses public and private internets, public X.25 data networks, and satellite networks to move information. TSG's SyncSwitch 8000s are used at key satellite communications nexus locations. With the SyncSwitch 8000, public and private X.25 network links and X.25 satellite network data is seamlessly bridged over the global SITA internet.

With link speeds of up to 256Kilobits/second and thousands of virtual circuits connected at once, the SITA installations represent the largest capacity installations of SyncSwitch worldwide.

The capacity and redundancy requirements for the SITA installations presented unique challenges that TSG solved on SITA's behalf with tailored application and network interfaces which optimized application access to communications facilities for increased system performance.
